The
primary goal of National Service Scheme is educational. This is
achieved by community service. A special camping programme under
this scheme is organized every year. Various activities like health
education, village sanitation, immunization, tree plantation. agricultural
demonstration in plots etc. are also undertaken under the regular
work of the National Service Scheme. Certificates will be issued
by the University to the volunteers who successfully complete 240
hours of community work in two years.

CENTRE FOR ADULT CONTINUING EDUCATION AND EXTENSION (CACEE) |
Sanction
was accorded by the University to start a unit of the CACEE in the
college during the year 1983-84. Eradication of illiteracy is its
main target. A unit of the Population Education Club and JSN is
also functioning in the college.
NCC
has been introduced in the college during the year 1982-83 and any
student can join as a cadet subject to a selection test.

Our unit have arranged country development programmes, containing
development programmes, Literary programmes Medical Camps
etc.
Organised Trekking Experience and Cycle Expediting for the
cadets amiably
‘Elambryam’ a near by Tribal Village at Our College
adopted by our unit and organised different programme there.
Organising Blood grouping and Blood donation programme for
the students of this College Annually.
Improving the quarters of discipline, tolerance Leadership,
love to the Nation, obedience and respect to others among
the catch.

With
the UGC. aid, computers are installed in the college and course
for computer training started during the year 1990-91.

COACHING CENTRE FOR MINORITY COMMUNITIES |
It
is a UGC sponsored project which aims at giving special coaching
to persons belonging to financially backward minority communities
such as the Latin Christians, Muslims, Neo-Buddhists and others
notified by the Central/State Governments. Its main target is to
equip them with sufficient knowledge to complete in the various
competitive exams/entrance exams/typewriting, short hand etc. A
course for typing and short hand was started during the year 1991-92.
Computer training is also provided.
The Tutorial
System is introduced in the College and under this system all the
students are divided into a number of batches and each is placed
under a particular teacher nominated by the Principal. The student
can approach the concerned teacher for advance and guidance on all
matters. Each student is expected to meet his tutor at least once
a fortnight and give him an account of what he has been doing during
the fortnight and seek the advice of the teacher.
Tutorial
meetings are to be conducted periodically by each group tutor for
giving proper guidance on points of academic and general interest.
Every tutor should keep a report of his wards and conduct certificates
are issued by the Principal on the basis of the data supplied through
the reports.
Every
application for leave should be submitted only through the tutor
in charge and his recommendation is needed for sanctioning the leave.
The college provides facilities for various games and sports. The
students are expected to take active part in these games and sports
for which the lecturers in physical education shall be the guide.
The annual Athletic Meet is held in the college grounds on a large
scale.
The
facilities have been provided for aquatics, football, basketball,
chess, softball, volleyball, kabadi, ball-badminton and athletics.
A Sports Council has been constituted to provide impetus to these
students interested in sports and games. The Principal is the Ex-officio
President and the Senior Lecturer in Physical Education is the Secretary
of the Council. A General Captain is nominated by the Union Executive
Committee.
All students of the college are medically examined once a year.
The medical officers will visit the college occasionally.
The college
magazine shall be published annually and it deals mostly with subject
of literary and academic interests. A student Editor will be elected
annually from among the students. The management of the magazine
shall be vested in a magazine committee, which also acts as the
Editorial Board, appointed afresh every year and composed of the
following members-
1. The Principal - Ex-officio President
2. Three staff-editors
for each language nominated by the Principal, of which one shall
be a Chief Editor.
3. A Secretary
cum treasurer to be nominated by the Principal from among the teaching
staff.
4. The Student
Editor to be elected annually from among the students.
The
Principal shall be the final authority and responsible in all matters
pertaining of the magazine.?
| THE
COLLEGE CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY |
The college co-operative society is at present managed by a board
of directors elected by the General body members of the staff. Students
of the college are eligible to become A class and B class members
of the co-operative society respectively by taking one or more shares.
The value of one share for A class membership is Rs. 10/- and B
class membership is Re.1/-. Members are eligible to get the dividend
declared by the Secretary of the co-operative society and is in
charge of the day to day affairs of the society. |
